Why The Slam Crew Was Created:

The Slam Crew was born from a simple belief — basketball has the power to change lives.

For years, we traveled the country performing as an entertainment basketball team, bringing energy, excitement, and unforgettable moments to schools and communities. But along the way, something became clear:

We weren’t just putting on shows.
We were connecting. We were inspiring. We were giving kids hope.

We saw the spark in their eyes when we encouraged them before a big test. We saw their confidence rise when we reminded them that their dreams mattered. And when we returned to those same schools years later, students would tell us how one moment — one message — helped shape who they became.

Long before The Slam Team existed, the founder of The Slam Crew taught and coached in inner-city schools. She saw the challenges young people faced up close — the pressure, the distractions, the heavy weight they carried every day. She also saw how deeply they needed consistent encouragement and positive role models who would stand in front of them and say:

You are capable.
You are valuable.
You can rise above anything standing in your way.

That’s why The Slam Team was created.

To use basketball as a platform to inspire, motivate, and empower the next generation.
To show students that greatness already lives within them.
To remind them that with effort, character, and belief, anything is possible.

Because in the end, this is about far more than basketball —
it’s about impact, confidence, and leaving hope behind everywhere we go.

Led by DJ D Mac from San Antonio, our lineup features elite talent across every position—from Derrick “Handles” Jones at point guard to Jeremy “Jerm” Thompson dominating the paint at 7’1”. With high-flying dunkers, master ball handlers, and skilled shooters, our team brings energy, creativity, and unforgettable performances to every court we step onto.
